He was a contestant in the first season of the show, Star Voice of India. However, his major breakthrough came in the second season of the show, where he became the indomitable champion. Ravi Shukla was crowned the winner of Amul Star Voice of India 2 Winner on December 21, 2008, defeating the runner-up, Saptaparna Chakraborty. He was awarded a brand new car, along with a cheque for Rs
2.5 million. In addition to this, he was given a contract with T-Series to launch his first album.

Music career
In 2004, Ravi was selected in the show, Indian Idol, in its first season. Though he could not make it to the top, it was the notably the turning point in his career.
