History

Among the largest schools in San Diego County, with over 3,300 enrolled students, with a diverse student population in grades 9-12, Rancho Buena Vista High is one of the 572 World Schools in the United States (as of January 2008) offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Varda Levy is the school principal. Shannon Garcia, Carlos Gomez, Eileen Hermansen, and Jonathan Gollias are the school assistant principals.

Sports

The athletic program at RBVHS currently offers Football, Cross Country, Field Hockey, Tennis, Volleyball, Mens Volleyball, Water Polo, Golf, Basketball, Soccer, Wrestling, Baseball, Swimming, Track and Field, and Cheer, Softball,Mens Softball, Marching Band, Color Guard.

Rancho Buena Vista's sports program is exceptional. The Football Team were semi-finalists for the CIF championship in 2007. The school's Marching Band and Pageantry Corp has won over 400 awards since its creation in 1988. It has performed all over the world and in parades such as The Tournament of Roses in Pasadena and at Disneyland. The Men's Cross Country team won CIF Championships two years in row in 2006 and 2007.
