History

The inaugural run of the Punjab Mail is thought to have taken place on 1 June 1912. Then known as The Punjab Limited, the train initially ran from Ballard Pier to Peshawar

, taking British officers, civil servants, and their families directly from their ships to Delhi and the North-West frontier of British India. In 1914, the originating station was moved to Victoria Terminus, and after the partition of India

Arrival and Departure

Train no. 12137 departs from Mumbai everyday at 1940 hrs., reaching Ferozpur the next day+1 night at 0500 hrs.
Train no. 12138 departs from Ferozpur everyday at 2140 hrs., reaching Mumbai the next day at 0700 hrs.

Locomotive

On its Journey From Mumbai to Firozpur, the train is hauled by a WCAM-3 of Kalyan loco shed from Mumbai to Igatpuri, WAP-4 of Bhusaval loco shed from Igatpuri to New Delhi, and a WDP-4 of Bhagat-ki-kothi loco shed up to Firozpur Jn.
