Once in office, Moreno instituted his own graffiti removal and vacant lot clearance programs. During the Chicago Blizzard of 2011 Moreno paid for snow-removal for 1st Ward residents out of his own pocket.

Chicago 2011 Election

Moreno beat two opponents in the February 22, 2011 Chicago Municipal Elections, by receiving 74% of the vote. He received all of the major endorsements available during the campaign, including the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times.

Moreno sat on the board of Humboldt Park Social Services and served as a member of Jose De Diego's Local school Council. In 2008, Moreno ran against incumbent Illinois State Senator, Willie Delgado, and lost by a close margin.

Moreno remains an avid runner and has hosted Run the Ward events to encourage wellness in the community.
Moreno originally moved to the neighborhood because of the vibrant art and music scene and his appreciation and support of local artists has expanded since he took office.
