 skills. He was the prince who viewed himself as lacking in the requisite skills for kingship and believed that Sejong was destined to become king. Also, he believed it was his duty to place Sejong as king, so he acted extremely rudely in the court. Becoming uncomfortable for being thrown out of his position, he married a peasant and was officially deposed in June 1418 and soon were banished from Seoul

. His second brother, Grand Prince Hyoryeong, also believed in the same idea of Yangnyeong, became a monk in a Buddhist Temple. This plot ultimately brought Sejong to the throne. Later, he became a wandering traveler and lived in the mountains.

After Sejong has taken the throne, the brothers had great relationships and Sejong often invited Yangnyeong to the palace.

He lived in as a wanderer and died in 1462, almost living for 68 years.

Trivia

Today, his descendants form one of the biggest clan of the House of Yi. In addition, it is believed that the plaque on the Namdaemun was personally written by himself.
