Pradeep Gupta

Pradeep Gupta is the chairman and managing director of Cyber Media, one of India’s leading specialty media house and a public company with an ICT focus. He has received national awards for his championship of the disabled, and alumni awards for entrepreneurship. He is also an Angel investor and a mentor to a number of entrepreneurs.

Early life

Gupta earned a Bachelor’s in Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi in 1975 and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta in 1977.

Career

Gupta began his career with HCL Ltd. where he led the Eastern Zone facility’s software development.

In 1982 while promoting the newly founded Cyber Media he launched Dataquest magazine, which continues to be recognized as a barometer for India’s IT

He is the chairman of Cyber Media (India) Ltd. based in Gurgaon, near New Delhi, South Asia’s largest specialty media house and one of India’s leading magazine publishers, Cyber Media is a public company with an annual revenue of Rs. 1 billion. The company has 15 publications, 12 websites, 100+ events and weekly TV programs in the infotech, telecom, consumer electronics & biotech areas. CyberMedia’s brands include Dataquest, PCQuest

 as a member of the nation’s Department of Electronics "Study Team on Microelectronics." He also led a strategic consultancy that formulated the nation’s software exports strategy. Additionally he was a member of Delhi’s government appointed “Working Group on IT.”

Honors

Pradeep Gupta received the Distinguished Alumni Award from IIT Delhi in 2000. He also received the Helen Keller Award from the National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People, the Award for Outstanding Contribution towards National Development from IIT Delhi Alumni Association.

Gupta received the Karmaveer Puraskaar award (social justice national awards)in the “Corporate Citizens for Holistic Media Initiatives” category for 2009-2010.
Work that led to this award include his social intervention plan that resulted in the IT/BPO industry becoming accessible to the disabled, his work towards making all Indian websites disabled-friendly and his ‘Getting Girls to School’ programme.
