With more than 30 years of experience and modern technical and training facilities, PWUT offers degree programs. The programs are offered at Bachelors, Masters and PhD levels. In addition, PWUT conducts a wide range of short, specialized courses annually, aimed at upgrading or refreshing the knowledge and skills of practitioners. Most of the faculty members are power and water industry elites. Exceptional laboratories and experimental facilities are the other advantages of the university over the other public universities in Iran. PWUT is affiliated to the Ministry of Energy

 industries and the efforts of Dr. Mohammad Sadegh Ghazizadeh, Dr. Mohammad Ahmadian and Dr. Kabir Sadeghi lead to promotion of "Technical Power Systems Training Center" to an important research and training center in power and water industries which was responsible for short-term and long-term trainings in undergraduate level. Ministry of Science, Research and Technology approved the institution to be changed into Faculty of Power and Water on 1991. Finally it is changed into Power and Water University of Technology in 2005. Since then the university has become the most scientific center for preparing technical and professional participants to perform their job duties more desirable in all sections of power and water industries.  Faculty is composed of three different departments: Power Engineering department, Electronics & Computer Department and Control & Instrumentation Department. The Faculty has 12 laboratories, 11 specialized workshops and 47 faculty members members.

Faculty of Energy Engineering

Energy Systems Faculty of Power and Water University of Technology with 11 Laboratory units, 8 Workshop Units and 13 specialized units together with the presence of 22 faculty members has a great research and technical engineering services potential. The main research areas were in the field of power plant industry and related issues like life estimation, corrosion and failure analysis, energy management, new energies, energy conversion systems including Turbo-Mechanism, heating systems etc. It should be mentioned that the aforementioned fields are just a few examples of working areas and it can be extended to any field related to faculty members experiences.

Faculty of Water (Civil) Engineering

Faculty of Water (Civil) Engineering started its educational activities in 1985. After promoting to PWUT in 2005, the Faculty faced significant changes. Several master degrees in Civil Engineering are now offered by the faculty. The department has now four departments: "Water Resources Engineering", "Water and Waste water Engineering", "Structural and Geo technical Engineering," and "Environmental Engineering".

Faculty of Economics and Management

This faculty was created in 1991. After some promotions, the faculty now offers M.A. and B.A. degrees in management and accounting. Short-term courses in management and accounting for related industries are the other activities of the department.
