Portico Systems was founded in 1997, originally under the name "FMG Technologies, Inc".

Portico has been based in the Greater Philadelphia Region since inception, with offices formerly located in Center City, Blue Bell, and Norristown. The company is currently headquartered in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania
