Pohangina consists of Awahou School, Totara Reserve camping ground, Pohanginga River and lots more. Pohangina is beautiful and a great place for a holiday.

Name

The Maori place name has been translated into English as "The warming of the ovens at night", but an earlier English spelling, "Pouhangina", suggests "A newly cut post, still bleeding sap".
