Name

Myth exist that, second son of Shah Shuja, Firoz Shah died in this area and in honour of him, the area started to being calld 'Firozpur'.
In time 'Firozpur' was slowly turned to pronounced as 'Pirozpur'.

Geography

Pirojpur is also the name of a city of about 100,000 people. Most of the land is low lying and the soil is fertile. There are small forests.

Religion

The district of Pirojpur consists 3934 mosques, 15 temples and two churches.
