the club came close many times but fail in there attempts to be promoted an d in the early 90s the city cut resources and so the club once aging fell to the inferior divisions. In the mid 1990s the club changed its name to Tucanes de Cancun but fail to gain popularity and so force was forced to changed the name back to its original namePioneros. It was until 2006 when José del Carmen Vázquez Ávila bought the club and has now proposed a plan to have the franchise in the first division in a couple of yearsand by so have gain the support of the natives .
