While at the University of Hawaii, Ruocco also starred in a one man show called "Thom Pain" written by Will Eno about a recluse trying to piece together the shattered remnants of his life. For his Thesis in MFA directing, he hosted a production of the controversial play "In The Heart Of America" by Naomi Wallace, which coincidentally and appropriately opened on the anniversary of the brutal My Lai Massacre of the Vietnam War. Also, while in Hawaii, Ruocco played famous trade unionist Jack Hall in a PBS documentary.

Ruocco then moved to, and currently resides in, San Francisco
