Odhiambo is nicknamed "Dynamite".He started his boxing in madson squire garden in nakuru in the year 1984 when he was in form 2.His first tournament was in 1985 and won the rift valley novices and then went on to win kenya novices.he participated in some boxing league in that year.He took abrake in boxing to concentrate in schooling coz it was his final year in high school.He came back in 1987 and participated in the first trial.He won the tournament by beating the late Robert Wangila and Kennedy Munika. He was in the kenyan team which participated in kings cup in Bankok in 1987.He took part local league and Kenya open tournament and won.He started 1988 on a high knot.He won most of the tournaments he took part,the most notable is the one he beat Cris Sande in Nakuru.And thats the year Sande brought bronse medal from Olypics in Seul Korea.
