Pelkhil School

Pelkhil School, often referred to simply as Pelkhil, is a private co-educational school for grades 5-12. It was founded in 2010.

During its first year of operation, Pelkhil produced remarkably good results in terms of improvement in student performance. It is the school's aspiration to produce the future leaders of Bhutan.

Overview

The school is headed by a Board of Directors, who appoint the Principal and Faculty. There are 4 houses, each headed by a teacher, selected from the more senior members of the teaching staff.

Almost all the school's pupils go on to universities.

As a new school, Pelkhil has just about 220 students, although its full capacity is 624.

, music and dance room, cafeteria. It also has 2 football fields, 2 basketball courts, volleyball courts and a table tennis room.

Future Plans

With the completion of the first phase, the future plans in terms of facilities include a gymnasium with swimming pool, additional classrooms, auditorium, permanent cafeteria, workshops. Pelkhil will also widen its facilities and services with the provision of hostels for students and housing for faculty.

School terms

There are two academic terms during the calendar year. The first term begins in the third week of February and ends at the end of June. The second term begins in the third week of July and ends in the third week of December.

Houses

Students are separated into Houses Taag (tiger), Chhung (bird), Singye (lion) and Druk (dragon).

Uniform

All students are expected to wear the school uniform which consists of a grey mathra

 for boys and kira for girls. For boys the tego is white while for girls the tego is maroon with a light grey wongju. Black socks and shoes are a part of the uniform.
