The stadium, which has a capacity of 15,000 seats, was the home of Puebla F.C., one of the oldest and most important football teams in Mexico. “El Mirador” was constructed under the club's owner Roberto Cortazar in 1944 and was inaugurated in a friendly match against Atlante

. This stadium was the home for Puebla F.C. from 1944 to 1957 when the club folded due to economic problems. That same year the stadium caught on fire and due to the wooden structure half of it burned down and was shut down for good.
