Parker Vector
Encyclopedia
Parker Vector is the name of a family of pens manufactured by The Parker Pen Company. They are often used by promotional firms as logo gift items.

History

The precursor to the Parker Vector was introduced in 1981, a simple cylindrical plastic cap and barrel rollerball pen called "Parker RB1". The RB1 name stands for "Rollerball 1".

In 1984, Parker added the FP1 (Fountain Pen 1), with essentially the same design as the RB1 except by the nib section instead of the rollerball section.

The RB1 and FP1 models were produced until 1986, when Parker revised the pen by lengthening the cap and shortening the barrel and renaming the new pen the "Vector Standard".

Models

There are four models available (in plastic and steel): fountain pen, capped rollerball, pushbutton ballpoint, and pushbutton pencil.

Design

The design is clean and simple, a basic cylinder shape with a plain cutout version of the famous Parker Arrow clip. The cap is designed to easily snug onto the end of the pen.

Packaging

Most Vectors come on hang cards, though some are sold in boxes. There is also a popular Vector calligraphy set with four nibs (fine, medium, broad and double broad), ink cartridges, paper and an instruction book.
