Origin of name

According to tradition, once upon a time there lived demon(rakshas in Sanskrit and marathi) named Prachandasur (The huge giant) here and ruled this area with his companions and brother demon Suvarnasur living in nearby village today named as Sonari , Bhuamasur of place today known as Bhoom and Kandasur of village today named as Kandari .

Lord KalBhairav killed all these demons(rakshas) hence the following places are named after the locations where they lived

Kolegaon(Kalyan Sagar) Dam: It was located near the village of Domgaom on Seena river. It was a scenic beauty of nature.The temple of Kalyanswami the one of the loved followers of Ramdas swami, was now surrounded by water by its three sided. The migrated birds were also found in that locations.The backwater of that dam was reached to the village, Sonari. You can enjoy your weekend there.

Overview

The city is located around the historical fort.
River Seena flows from the taluka area which gives fine quality of sand. The city was the capital for near about 4000 villages in the past and named as "Prachandpur" at that time. The municipal council of this city is fouded in the year 1941. This is oldest municipal council in the Osmanabad district. there are total 97 villages in the Paranda taluka. The lagislative assembly seat no. is 208(Paranda) and parliament seat no. is 236. There is an ancient historical FORTE in Paranda town. Paranda has great historical background. Paranda is also known as a Taluka of Temples and Mosques

Regarding Fort at Paranda

There is a very large and an ancient Fort in Paranda Town.
The fort was is probably 800+ Year Old.
The fort has not faced any battle in its history and used as Storage Depot for Cannon and other Weapons and even today few of them are lying there.
The Fort is surrounded by trench from all the sites.
There is a Mosque and Hindu Temple inside the Fort.
The great heritage is not properly maintained and trench is filled with shrubs.
The authorities should take proper care to preserve this monument
This fort has not faced any battle in past 980 years and it was used for storage of material only

DARGAH OF SUFI SAINT 'HAZRAT KHWAJA BADRUDDIN CHISHTI SHAHEED(RAHEMATULLAH ALAIHI)'

There is a famous DARGAH of SUFI SAINT HAZRAT KHWAJA BADRUDDIN CHISHTI SHAHEED(RAHEMATULLAH ALAIHI) located in the PARANDA town which is about 800 years old.
The DARGAH is surrounded by the large area of KABRISTAN.There are also the tombs of companions & disciples of SUFI SAINT HAZRAT KHWAJA BADRUDDIN CHISHTI SHAHEED(RAHEMATULLAH ALAIHI) around the DARGAH area.There is yearly grand celebration called "URS MUBARAK" of SUFI SAINT HAZRAT KHWAJA BADRUDDIN CHISHTI SHAHEED(RAHEMATULLAH ALAIHI) which is on 8th RAJJAB of ISLAMIC calendar.Large amount of people of all the religions from all over the MAHARASHTRA take the part in "URS MUBARAK" yearly.This DARGAH is the unique place of 'HINDU-MUSLIM UNITY' in PARANDA town.There is also the DARGAH of another SUFI SAINT HAZRAT KHWAJA KHAAS KHALIL(RAHEMATULLAH ALAIHI) at other end of the PARANDA town.

Kalyanswami Math "Hansrajswami math"

Kalyanswami was follower of Sant Ramdas Swami.His Samadhi is at Domgaon and Math is at Mangalvar peth Paranda. The original golden copy of Dasbodh is preserved at Domgaon .

Notable personalities

Advocate Milind Patil is one of the Members of BJP Maharashtra State also belongs to Paranda now practising at Dharashiv. MR.V A alias Nanashaeb Deshmukh a lawyer and former member of Legislative Assembly also famous politician of Janata Rule.
Late Laxmanrao Kale Advocate played important role in freedom struggle of India also lived in this town. There is beautiful Ram Temple newly build there in Mandai Peth. New Additions are Post Office building, Sugar factory at Sonari and Shendri. One beautiful Jain Temple also constructed there.

Shri. Sujitsingh Thakur secretary of BJP maharashtra state,and he is ex mayor of municipal council paranda, he is also chairman of Kalyansagar Urban Co-opp. Bank Ltd. Paranda. adv.santosh suryawanshi,general secretary of bjp, paranda.
Dnyaneshwar patil is a most popular person in paranda taluka.He is a leading politician
of shivsena in taluka. he is also in the body of osmanabad janta bank.
Hanif Mujawar is another well known personality in paranda taluka.
He is also from shivsena.

Shankarrao Borkar is famous industrilst and Shivsena Leader from Paranda. Shankarrao Borkar is Managing Director of the Company ... Jalgaon Re-rolling Industries Ltd(BSE Listing Company). He is Director of Dhanshree Developers Pvt Ltd., a well established Construction Company in Mumbai( http://www.dhanshree.in/ ). He is also Chairman of Narsinha Co-Operative Sugar Factory At Post Indapur, Taluka Vashi Dist Osmanabad.

Dattatray Salunke is a famous political leader in Maharashtra Navnirman Sena in Paranda Taluka. . He was president of Paranda Panchayat Samiti. He is owner of Mouli Construction Company in Paranda. He did good work in all villages of Paranda, Bhoom and Vashi Taluka.
Dattatray Salunke has good support from Mr Nana deokar and Friend Circle from Paranda as well as good support from all young generation people in Paranda, Bhoom and Vashi Taluka.
Rahul(Bhaiya) Mote is the MLA of the Paranda Constituency. Mr. Dnyaneshwar Patil was the previous MLA for Paranda constituency, he is brilliant and having very good personality. Mr.subhashsingh siddiwal member of municipal council.
