De Ceglie was not expected to be a starter under new manager Luigi Delneri, who was appointed prior to the 2010-11 season. He took his chances and his improved performances earned him a place in the starting eleven. Unfortunately his season was interrupted with a ligament injury that required surgery in October. He made a comeback as a second-half substitute on the last matchday of the season against SSC Napoli.
