In a 2008 Ofsted inspection the school was given an overall a Grade 3 (satisfactory) result, with a Grade 2 (good) for its sixth form.

The school has links in the community and overseas in the Gambia. The school has recently gained Media Arts status under the specialist status scheme

Facilities

The main school building was recently rebuilt in 2007/08 and stands alongside the Millennium block which was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in the year 2000. The school was opened to students in September 2007 but the actual opening ceremony was held in 2008 when construction work was completed. The school was formally opened by Mark Williams (actor), an old boy of the school.

Arts

The school has a drama,media arts department so the school puts on special plays and concerts however the media part helps students to learn valuable skills.
