He was the son of Dimitrios Makris

of 1821. He entered the Greek Army. He was sent to France
for training. After his return, he participated in the Greco-Turkish War
of 1897 where he fought in the area of Taratsa (a village of Lamia
) and won there.
After the war, he left the army and continued as chief of the Athens police. He was elected MP several times.
