, have spread a rumour that Newton Bewley is a village of wax people. The rumour is based on the fact that, although Newton Bewley is situated on a very busy main road, the A689, nobody is able to quote a date when a living person has actually been seen in the village. The myth is strengthened by local-interest websites that fail to mention real names, and feature images of mannequins or empty rooms.
