The name 'Munkbroleden' was officially given the traffic route as a temporary solution to the increasing traffic loads was completed in 1930, a solution named Slingerbultsleden ("Dodge Route") by its users, and substituted by the more permanent solution Centralbron

Near the centre of the traffic route, where today is the metro station, was until 1899 a large building. It was constructed in 1782 for the Stenborg Theatre
