In 1965, he made his debut with "Playboy School" (????????, Pureboi nyumon), writing under the name of Eiji Gamuta (????? Gamuta Eiji). Subsequently, he changed his pen name to Monkey Punch, which he intended only as a throwaway name, but it stuck.
