Moncton High School is a high school

that was founded in 1935. It is housed in a unique building that has gone through many renovations through the years and currently shut down due to severe water damage caused by excessive age and mistreatment. However, it will reopen in September of 2011 for two more years. The school colours are purple and white, and the mascot is the "Purple Knight".

All the students are known to be a great group of young adults that come from many different backgrounds, and are known for their tremendous school spirit. Also, MHS had held the record for the largest number of students in the city for numerous years.

Grade 11-12 students were moved in the first week of November. The school will reopen in September, 2011, undergo $2 million worth of repairs, and will stay open until 2013 when a new Moncton High School will be completed at an offsite location yet to be announced. The future of the current MHS after the new school is opened is unknown at this time. The school has also received significant funding from the government, including $8.5 million and an additional $10 million to build a new school

Moncton High School was established in 1935, currently closed due to damage within the building caused by old age and mistreatment. At one point before it became a heritage property, the government proposed closing Moncton High, and constructing a new facility named MacNaughton High School that would rival the size and population of Fredericton High SchoolFredericton High School

Closure
Moncton High School was closed for 6 days in late September 2010 due to corroded structural columns. During the first week of October numerous teachers had complained that the air in the school was making them sick. While testing the air quality on October 7 went on, other workers checked behind walls to check for any other damage. As they checked they noticed water damage in many rooms throughout the school, however the air quality was tested and the air was deemed safe, however due to the amount of damage, Karen Branscombe, School District 2 Superintendent, announced on October 8, 2010 that Moncton High School would officially be shut down. Students are currently separated according to grade and split into two different schools. Grade 9-10 students have been sent to the new Northrup Frye School (which has been opened November 18, 2 months earlier then expected) in Moncton North, which was planned to take in half of all students from Evergreen Park SchoolEvergreen Park School

School Colours
The origin of the purple and white school colours was on and around the day of September 27, 1897, when the school was dedicated by the Governor General of Canada, the Earl of Aberdeen. He received a silver trowel, which he used to lay the cornerstone, and after this, he gave a speech. One of the things he mentioned was that he hoped that the school never grew ashamed of him. Royal Purple and White were used to symbolize royalty.Motto
