Irfan represented the U-17 Malaysia football team in the 2007 AFF U-17 Youth Championship. Irfan appeared in 4 matches and scored 5 goals, including a hat trick in a 7-0 thumping against Brunei.

Irfan made his first appearence for the Malaysia national under-19 football team in 2009 in the 2009 AFF U-19 Youth Championship. Irfan appeared in 4 games but did not managed to score any goals. Malaysia overall finished 4th place.
