Sara Mohanpur is famous for the palatial Mohanpur House and the garden/orchard surrounding it. Mohanpur House belonged to Late Shri Mukund Jha. In the year, 1972, Late Shri Mukund Jha donated Mohanpur House to Government of Bihar for establishing an Ayurvedic College.

Initially, Mohanpur House served as the head office of L N Mithila University
