However he came back to Brisbane and scored a gritty 83 against Australia in the first test. He is well thought of as a slip fieldsman but is considered slow in the outfield.

He was dropped from the side following a string of poor performances, especially against India in 2008-2009, and has not been in the greatest form at domestic level since then.
