Matthew Richardson is a Canadian author and primatologist
. He is best known for his historical piece, The Royal Book of Lists: An Irreverent Romp Through British Royal History from Alfred the Great to Prince William (Dundurn Group
, 2001).
More recently, Richardson has devoted himself to the field of primatology
, authoring and co-authoring a number of publications in association with the American Non-Government Organization (NGO) Conservation International
. Chief among these is the revised third edition of the very successful "Lemurs of Madagascar" field guide (to be published in 2009), Lemurs of Madagascar (book)
the Primate volume to the forthcoming "Handbook of the Mammals of the World

),and the ambitious, four-volume series "Living Primates". He recently co-wrote the foreword to "Extended Family: Distant Cousins" by Colin Groves
