About Matt

Matt first arrived in Charnham in November 2000, along with his longtime girlfriend Karen Webb. They went to stay with Matt's sister, Nikki Warrington and her family. Matt had always wanted to marry Karen but she always rejected his proposal because she wasn't ready yet.
Eventually, Karen accepted Matt's proposal but before preparations could get under way, Karen was diagnosed with Breast cancer and the surgery left her unable to have children. Matt and Karen went ahead with the wedding and decided to look for a surrogate mother. Kelly Hurst, the lesbian niece of local resident Sadie Hargreaves offered to be the surrogate mother for Matt and Karen.

Matt and Karen's marriage was shattered when Karen began an affair with Kelly. Matt began licking his wounds by dating Anna Gregory, a tenant from the local housing project at Number 14 Stanley Street run by Roy Farmer
