Grasby was born in Darwin to an Australian father and a Thai mother, a trained chef. The family subsequently moved to Papua New Guinea

Career with food

Since moving to Adelaide, Grasby has undertaken a variety of roles in the food and hospitality industries. She was a customer service manager for Bottega Rotolo, a food writer for Cobb and also contributes to the website of the company Secret Vines, operated by her partner Tim.

Grasby maintains an expansive website where she also blogs about food-related topics.

In 2010 Grasby was selected as one of the Top 24 contestants in MasterChef Australia, Season 2. Several of the eliminated contestants tipped her to win the competition. A poll conducted by news.com.au determined that she was favoured to win, with 38% of the vote.

On 8 July 2010 Grasby was eliminated from the show, placing 9th. She is now a columnist for MasterChef Magazine.

Marion's Kitchen food range was released to stores in February 2011. It includes a satay kit with marinade and sauce. Grasby is signed to Pan Macmillan and travelled to Thailand and India to explore ideas for her new cookbook. The book, Marion: Recipes and stories from a hungry cook, was released in July 2011.
