 Main Event made him the first non-American to win that particular tournament. Matloubi also made the final table of the 1993 Main Event, finishing in fourth place. He was eliminated by the event winner, Jim Bechtel.

Currently, Matloubi does not play many tournaments in the United States, as he prefers to play in Europe.
