The Parkway was constructed in the 1900s and runs along the path of several former Melrose streets including Hamilton Road, Perkins Street, and Clifford Street. The parkway cuts across Ell Pond Park and is praised for its mature tree lined portion on the Melrose, Stoneham line forming a "great" canopy. The parkway was added to the National Register of Historic Places
