area in Massachusetts
. Lowell General was organized and incorporated in 1891. The main campus is located at 295 Varnum Ave in the Pawtucketville section of Lowell. It has 217 Beds, 28 bassinets. There are also two satellite locations: The Surgery Center and Patient Services Center at LGH Chelmsford and the Women's Imaging Center in Chelmsford. LGH is a member of the Voluntary Hospitals of America. Hospital programs are accredited by the Joint Commission of Hospitals, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Health, the American College of Surgeons, and the College of American Pathology. LGH is an old hospital and has a very spread out campus with multiple buildings. Recently expansion plans have been drawn up. A new 6-8 story bed tower with private rooms, expanded Emergency Department
, Operating Rooms and other services. Also included is adding 2 new floors to the parking garage which is now complete.
