It features two interchangeable grips to suit the user's preference and just like the older 'G' series mice, it uses a laser engine, but with a more precise 3200 DPI option. This can be changed on-the-fly from 200 DPI to 3200 DPI in increments of 200. The newer mouse also features micro-gear scrolling which can be switched, by a button on the underbelly, to a smooth scroll option.
