 (ICAO) requirements. All data are written in Lithuanian, English, and French. The passports are issued to Lithuanian citizens upon request, and are valid for ten years for adults and five years for children from 5-16 years. For younger children, passports are valid for two years, which can be extended by special request up to five years.

Since 28 August 2006, the passport includes electronic biometric data. A RFID memory chip stores the photograph and other data in electronic form. Since 1 January 2008, new type passports with a burgundy-red cover are issued, according to general European passport design requirements.
