since their introduction to the New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership for the 1947 season. Player numbers have been allocated based on a review of Club Records and according to the following conventions:
  • 1947: First ever captain was allocated No. 1. The other 12 players from the first ever Manly first grade team were allocated numbers 2 to 13 in alphabetical order. All other players making their debut during the 1947 season were allocated the next available number in alphabetical order.
  • 1948 – 1999: In each season, all players making their debut during that season were allocated the next available number in alphabetical order.
  • 2000 – 2001: Players who debuted for the Northern Eagles in 2000 or 2001 AND played for Manly in 2002 were allocated the next available number in alphabetical order in each season 2000 and 2001. Players who debuted for the Northern Eagles
