After 2009, Cuthbertson signed a deal with the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks for 2010, however he only played 12 games, with the rest played in the NSW Cup. He wasn't retained.

In 2010 the St. George Illawarra Dragons signed Cuthbertson on a 1-year contract to revive his career under supercoach Wayne Bennett. He played 19 games, scoring 2 tries. Hitting career best form, Cuthbertson followed Bennett to the Newcastle Knights
