History

Benzies was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, and grew up in Dufftown. His parents, who were property developers, took him to evening classes to learn about computers. At age eleven he began playing video games as a mental escape from his divorcing parents, and thirteen years later he decided to start a career in video game production. He spent two years modifying and improving an existing video game before sending it to David Jones, head of DMA Design at the time. After giving Benzies a trial job, he was employed full-time, his first project being the Nintendo 64 platformer Space Station Silicon Valley.
