It the future, there are plans for extensive residential developments that will create a new urban village in the Lebreton Flats area. This is expected to increase usage of Lebreton Station.

The station is also the rush-hour terminus of the newly-created rapid transit route 99 that links downtown to Riverside South in the south end of the city.
