version, which is a completely different game, was also released only in PAL regions.

Arcade version

The arcade version puts the players in the role of Bill, Max and Carol, three ghost hunters that are ready to rescue a little girl kidnapped by a blue gargoyle, as well as protect the city from the ghost menaces.

Master System version

The Master System version's game description is:

"Ghost City is a city that appears every 13 years and is full of goblins and ghosts who thirst for a living soul. A blond-haired girl called Catherine is being held prisoner in the basement of White Manor. To make matters worse, her soul has been stolen and taken to Ghost City, and it's up to you to get it back. Guide Catherine through seven chapters, using either the joypad or Light Phaser to shoot ghosts that haunt her."

Arcade version

The Laser Ghost arcade version is a horizontally oriented cabinet with a standard resolution color screen that is reflected by a mirror. The game can be played up to three players simultaneously. The gameplay is controlled by a positional gun with two buttons, one for regular fire and another for limited-use special weapons. In addition to the gun, the cabine also features on-screen aiming reticule in which a mirror projects a red light beam away from the gun each time the player makes a shot, giving the illusion that an actual laser ray comes out from the gun to the target.

The game itself puts the three hunters in five stages where they must destroy waves of ghosts, each one ending with a boss battle. Each player's damage zone is represented by a third of the screen, which also their stats are located. Depending of which third of the screen the ghosts attack, is the player that can receive damage. There is only one life per life, which is represented by a life bar that decreases each time the ghost attacks the player, but can be replenished by shooting medical kit that some enemies leave when destroyed.
