Kosi Kalan is a beautiful town situated in BrijBhoomi. Town was named Kosi for being treasury of NandBaba (as Kosh means Treasure). This small town is a hub of cultural and commercial activities.
The town is situated on the Delhi-Agra highway(NH-2)at 100 km milestone. The town is equally famous for its varied culture (since it is situated at tri-junction of UP, Rajasthan and Haryana) as for its industrial development.

, Kosi Kalan had a population of 45,684. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Kosi Kalan has an average literacy rate of 51%, lower than the national average of 65%: male literacy is 59%, and female literacy is 41%. In Kosi Kalan, 18% of the population is under 6 years of age. But literacy rate has increased among the age group of 0-30 years in the last decade and every 3rd person in this group is either intermediate or a graduate.

Key Attractions

Nagar Devi (City Goddess) - Maa Bhagwati ji.
There is a famous temple of Goddess on the bank of Gomati Kund.

Its location on NH2 with equal distance from Delhi and Agra (100 kms), availability of continuous bus service from three state roadways and large number of plying locals (EMUs) has made Kosi Kalan an easily approachable place and convenient place.

Kokilavan, where lot of devotees come to pray Lord Shani (Saturn), is 8 km away from Kosi Kalan. Here the SHANI DEV MAHARAAJ is worshipped. It is the place of attraction for many devotees from the various parts of India and it also attracts foreign tourists. A lot of "bhandaraa" are organised every Saturday by the devotees and this devotion in the faith of Shanidev Maharaj has led the MD of Omaxe Construction Ltd to offer his company to develop the vicinal area. Now various dharamshalas can be witnessed and the prayers can be offered through well planned route.
Various other famous spots of Brijbhoomi are quite near and approachable from kosikalan.some are nand gaon,barsana,goverdhan

Schools and colleges

One of the best schooljawahar navodaya vidyalaya run by HRD ministry under govt. of India is not so far from kosi. It is only 9km away from kosi in the village paigaon providing excellence education to the poor and those who can't afford good private schools.
Kosi Kalan is also having three very old intermediate colleges. two for co-education ( i.e. M.B. Inter College and Hindu Inter College which is now in deserted position) and one exclusively for girls (i.e. M.B. Girls Inter college) which are affiliated with U.P. Board and providing the education in all field i.e. Science, Commerce and arts. It is also having one degree college which is providing graduation level education in arts. In old days these colleges has produces a number of scholars who are glittering around the world in various field of specialization.

Witnessing the large number of industries coming up in Kosi Kalan, it has come under the category of industrial area.

The first commercial industry named "Venus Industries", an Alarm and Wall clock factory, was opened here in the 1960s.
