Location
Kolshet is located at North East of Thane
City. It is approximately 7km. away from Thane railway Station.
This place is mostly famous due to Air Force station
and Ganesh Visarjan Ghat. The place also has got beautiful coast of Thane creek called as Chowpaty, an ideal place for hanging out with family in the evening in winter and summer season.
It also has a Retibunder as sand for construction is supplied from this place.
Kolshet is a very peaceful area with lots of greenery around it. The road approaching kolshet is known as Kolshet Road, and is one of the most developing area of Thane city. The entire stretch of road possess immense potential for commercial outlets like shopping malls, commercial arcades, hotels, hospitals, Automobile showrooms and service centers, etc.
Recently construction of Mumbai University's Thane Sub Center had started in the vicinity, and talks are going on for Cricket academy (being setup by Mumbai Cricket
Association (known as MCA)), which once functional, will be a boon for cricketiers in Thane, who currently had to travel to Mumbai
for practice.
The locality is developing at a fast pace as Kolshet is nearer to thane station than Ghodbunder Road
. Lake city mall, Big Bazzar, R mall, Wonder Mall, Cinemastar Movie Theatre, Vijay sales,Sony showroom ,hotel vihang, IDBI BANK, Upcoming Dosti Mall opposite R mall, and another mall besides wonder Mall by Rajesh Builders are very nearby to the place.

In future, Kolshet Road may be connected to Hiranandani Estate, as there is only 1.5 km stretch left between two which is to be connected by road. Then at that point area may get importance of CBD of Thane. It will be also a boon for commuters from Hiranandani Estate
, as it will cut their traveling time and distance. The coastal side of creek has the potential for developing of amusement park in line with Disney park and development like Sabarmati River Front Development Project in Ahemadabad, Gujarat.
