. Its name was picked arbitrarily by the Tualatin Development Company, Inc., which used a royalty theme in naming the city streets. The population was 1,949 at the 2000 census. The 2006 estimate was 2,350 residents.
The city annexed an area to the west that will include 400-450 new homes when completed. Homes in the new area are not age restricted.

History
Created as a planned adult community, King City was incorporated in March 1966. The city's legal restrictions which forbid minors from living within its city limits for more than a short time have since been subjected to increasing criticism.The city annexed an area to the west that will include 400-450 new homes when completed.
