 on a football scholarship at the university he was attending as a student and became a regular member of the Student's Under-21 and collegiate teams. Harte was part of UCD's successful Dr. Tony O'Neill Under-21 league winning squad of 2005 but first team opportunities were difficult to obtain for the midfielder. In the search for first team football, Harte signed for First Division

Harte struggled to break into County's starting eleven due to persistent injuries restricting the midfielder to 8 appearances before Harte and Kildare County mutually agreed to part ways on July 14, 2008.
