History

Kinlochewe Post Office opened on 1 November 1850, was renamed Donnybrook in 1854 and Kalkallo in 1874, before closing in 1971.

Today

It is the focus of the new Merrifield development being under taken by MAB Corporation and Gibson Property Corporation. Merrifield is a 880 hectare $8billion mixed use development located on the corner of Donnybrook Road and the Hume Highway. The Minister for Planning has recently rezoned 415 hectares of the property to the Comprehensive Development Zone and development will commence in 2008.

Merrifield has been planned as an integrated mixed use development with capacity to provide 20,000 new jobs and homes for up to 30,000 people.
