The well planned township is set amidst a cool and wonderful greenery that has all the modern residential and recreational facilities for the employees of BHEL.It is broadly divided into sectors namely A,B,C,D,E,Nehru Nagar,R,PH and K.The PH,Nehru nagar and K are a little away from Kailasapuram and is called Kamarajapuram.There are major shopping centers in A,C,B and K sectors.The quarters are also divided into Type 2,3,4,5,6 and the Executive Directors Bungalow.The mango trees,coconut trees,lemon trees and banana trees are very common trees in most households.The roads in Kailaspuram are 2 laned and are called double garage roads.It has a community hall called CC or Community Center where Culturals events take place.It has a huge stadium called the Nehru Stadium where the 1989 Ranji Trophy matches were held.Kailasapuram has 3 Marriage halls at C,B and PH sectors.Another famous place in Kailasapuram is the KC-Club that has a library,swimming pool,gym,cafeteria,open air theaters and a sports complex which is a popular hangout among the children of BHEL employees.Kailasapuram has 2 temples(Ganesha and Balaji),a mosque and a church.There is also a Millennium park with a small zoo.It has a music school within the campus called Saraswati Vidhyalam where one can pursue fine arts and dances.Kailasapuram houses a famous spastic school called Arivayalam where the mentally challenged children are taught vocational training and are helped to earn a living and be independent.

The leading schools in the area are R.S.Krishnan Higher Secondary School, Boiler Plant Higher Secondary School, BHEL Matriculation School, Ramakrishna Middle School and St. Joseph's primary school.

Kailasapuram also houses one of India's premier business schools, the Bharathidasan Institute of Management (BIM) and the world famous Welding Research Institute (WRI).

 City on the Tiruchi-Thanjavur highway and a short distance from the Tiruverumbur railway station, the township is well connected by road and rail. Tiruchirapalli also has an airport catering to both domestic and international flights.
