 announced the event via streaming conferance. He stated that FEG had made a deal with the Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation for television rights in China. However, with less than two weeks to go before the event, K-1 had yet to arrange a sponsor for the event and secure visas for the participating fighters.  promotion which manages a number of Dutch fighters, said that the event would be cancelled due to K-1's severe financial problems which led to them not paying fighters from the previous year's final.

On October 27, two days before the event was scheduled to take place, K-1 announced that the event had been "postponed". K-1 claimed that they will try their best to resist cancellation, but instead make a Grand Prix Final 8 later in the year. Many speculate the end of K-1.
