Johnson launched Film Fights (filmfights.com) in November 2003 to help further his self taught video skills and to create a shared location for other lone filmmakers to talk, collaborate, and compete. Creating monthly challenges, he created a world community of almost 1500 film groups who entered over 1800 films in 165 competitions. With the launch of College Humor, Johnson became one of their original writers (from 2002–2005) and joined the staff in early 2004.
