It was originally established as Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology in 1972 , and split into Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology A: Chemistry and Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology B: Biology in 1987. A third title; Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology C: Photochemistry Reviews, was established in 2000, and is the official journal of the Japanese Photochemistry Association.

History

The Journal of Photochemistry was founded in 1971 under founder editor Richard P. Wayne and first published in 1972. Originally published quarterly, by 1987 frequency had increased to monthly.
