Biography

John is the youngest of the five Machado brothers of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He began his training 30 years ago with them and his cousins, the Gracie family

 and received his black belt from Carlos Gracie Jr.. He dominated the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

 circuit, winning every major competitive title from 1982 to 1990. In 1990 he also graduated from Rio Federal College receiving a degree in Environmental Farming. After graduating, he competed three years later at the Pan American Games
